Today is the anniversary of the day Jimi Hendrix took too much dope and died. Whether you enjoy is music or not, it must be remembered that his example should remind us to use our heads, think longer term than immediate gratification. Maybe he played out his best by that time. I have a theory that musicians sometimes do their best work early because it reflects on a longer period (childhood to present) than the time from one album to the next. The Beatles are an exception, growing and evolving over many years.
I saw Hendrix live here Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles. And never found the experience equalled in a recording.
