In Fort Morgan, Colorado Cargill has fired about 200 Muslims from Somalia who walked off the job because they were not paid to take time to pray. I can’t help but think there is a Christian out there who would demand pray-time on company-time, but 200? Nah.
Cargill should not stop there. They should only pay for hours actually worked. They should pay maternity leave, they should not offer any benefits whatsoever. They should simply pay well enough that workers can furnish these things themselves. That way workers will get exactly what they want in these services. There would be no waste brought about by providing unwanted products.
Rights are not something taken from someone else.
