“Federal officials didn’t want troubled financial institutions to assume they could receive a bailout without any negative consequences.”

This is a quote from a USA Today story on hearings in federal court having to do with the $85 billion bailout of AIG back in 2008. Remove the last four words from this quote to arrive at an approach to justice.

The photo below is of three people who illustrate the original intent of prison. Unfortunately, that idea has been corrupted. Now prisons have an inverse relationship to the deeds committed. The bigger the take, the shorter the time served. What could Americans have accomplished with $85 billion dollars extra capital?
